About our office

Welcome and thank you for visiting Nature Coast Urology, LLC. We employ a small staff and take tremendous pride in giving each of our patients exceptional service and care. For your convenience, all calls are answered personally by one of our staff members and every telephone call coming into the office is logged into the computer and sent to the appropriate recipient. All communications with either Dr. Schonwald or our staff are incorporated into your chart to ensure the highest quality of care for you. If you should need to reach Dr. Schonwald after hours for emergency purposes, a number is provided on the answering machine for you to call to reach Dr. Schonwald directly. You will not need to go through an answering service or experience a delay in reaching us!

We make every attempt to see all patients in a timely fashion. If you are having an urgent problem, you will be seen the same day you call for an appointment.  New patients are welcomed to download our patient packet from our website or have it emailed directly to them to be filled out prior to coming in for their appointment. If this is not possible, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to fill out paperwork.

What to bring to your appointment: Your insurance cards and picture ID, a list of your current medications and any recent x-rays or relevant records you wish the doctor to review. **It is the new patient’s responsibility to obtain a referral if required. Failure to do so may result in your appointment being rescheduled. 

You will be greeted by our receptionist when you arrive at our office and asked to sign in. Balances and co-pays are collected before you are seen. Please inform our office of any changes prior to your appointment such as insurance, address or phone number.  If we do not have your currect insurance information, your appointment will be rescheduled in order to allow time to verify your coverage and get a referral if necessary.

Here at Nature Coast Urology, LLC, we ensure complete confidentiality regarding your care and your medical records. Please visit our links to review our HIPPA and Medical Records Release forms. Thank you for understanding our policy to ensure your right to privacy.

After your appointment with the Doctor, our Office Supervisor will schedule any tests you may need and schedule your next appointment. If you should require surgery, our Office Supervisor will schedule this for you either while you wait or at your convenience.  We are affiliated with Bayfront Health Spring Hill, Bayfront Health Brooksville, Oak Hill Hospital and Hernando Endoscopy & Surgery Center. Necessary authorizations will be obtained by our office for you. We realize additional testing and upcoming surgery can be extremely stressful on our patients. 

Our insurance verifier will verify your insurance before your visit. Every surgery, procedure, and visit is verified with your insurance company to ensure benefits. If there is a co-insurance due or your deductible has not been met, you will be notified and payment is expected prior to services being rendered.

Our insurance verifier is available to you during regular business hours. If you should have any questions about your bill or insurance, please call our office and ask to speak to her. All calls are returned the same business day.

Our Medical Assistant is available for questions or concerns during regular business hours. After hours, Dr. Schonwald is available for emergencies only. Routine questions may be left on the machine and calls will be returned the following business day.
